Tablet Weaving

Card weaving or tablet weaving is an ancient tecnique that can only be produced by hand. As of today, there is no machine that is capable of producing this weave that has been in existence since the Iron Age.

Weaving People Together.

Is an interactive project intended to encourage people to work in harmony and share newly learned skill with others.

It began in Doris's Hyde Park backyard studio in 2005.

Tablet weaving brought people to together at community events and social functions.

Doris Florig has been re-appointed as the coordinator of Twist for 2010 - 2012. Twist is planning a tablet weaving exhibit to be held at Convergence 2012. Doris will coordinate that exhibit. To participate in this exhibit, tablet weavers should contact Doris Florig about details.

I had never been to the convergence before and never knew that there was an organization called TWIST. Since card weaving has been of intrest to me for several years now, I thought I would go to the meeting to see what it was all about. Little did I know that the relaxed atmosphere of the meeting would inspire me to volunteer to be the coordinater for the next two years. I am not sure that I know what is involved in being a coordinater for a group of tablet weavers but I am willing to find out. So, if you have any ideas let me know and perhaps we can work together to get some new and interesting projects off the ground.
